Combining art and action
We all love art, we just sometimes differ on the definition. For some of us the classical lines and historical significance of the great renaissance masters is what moves us. For others the lines and shapes of a well designed car or a favorite movies are the kinds of art that speak most to us. Whatever your preferred style of art is however you have to admit that the production of said art is often a slow and tedious process. Even on something as action oriented as a car the actual process of designing and building it is not exactly a thrill a minute experience. Luckily though there is the practice of speed painting, a rapid fire fast moving modern style of creating art that is both exciting to view and to make. A speed painter is half master artist and half performance artist and the work they make combines the best of these elements as well.
A good speed painter, of which there are very few in the world, can complete an entire painting in just a few minutes, this is the exciting part of speed painting! Traditionally a full picture would take hours, days or even weeks to complete and even then it would be a slow process of building the image and tweaking and refining it. A speed painter does not have this luxury. A speed painter relies on more ephemeral things like feel to complete their art. A speed painter is less about technical ability and precession and more about the raw feel of a piece and how it comes together. If you have not had the opportunity to see a speed painter work you really should, it is an experience that you will not soon forget.
